As Doctor Seuss wrote:
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
Our dear mother passed away suddenly but peacefully at home, just two weeks short of her 102nd birthday. Virginia (Gen) Tapper was the last of the six children born to Edward and Margaret (Wade) Everson of Flatrock.
She is predeceased by her husband Jimmy (2004), her grandsons Christopher(1971), Blair (2012) and Chad (2020), her son-in-law Bruce Barnes (2015) and daughters-in-law Paula Tapper (2016) and Maureen Clements (2018).
She was blessed to be survived by all of her nine children: Joe, Myra (Kevin), Bud (Pearl), Sean, Monica, Marian (Mike), Colleen (Annette), Bill (Sheila), and Neil (Darlene). She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and very special niece, Peach Everson. Dad’s sister, Betty Holzman and sister-in-law, Mary Tapper, also mourn her loss.
Mom had so many wonderful friends and neighbours who would call or drop by and were a constant joy in her life and surely helped keep her mind as alert as it was with their reminiscing. A special mention to her dear friend in Toronto, Mildred Hynes, who flew to Newfoundland at the age of 96 to help celebrate Mom’s 100th birthday.
Mom will be resting at Caul’s Funeral Home in Torbay on Thursday, August 19th from 2:00pm – 9:00pm and Friday, August 20th from 10:00am – 9:00pm. The funeral mass will be 1:00pm, Saturday, August 21st at Holy Trinity Church in Torbay and can be viewed live from here.
Flowers or donations to the charity of your choice gratefully accepted.
