Obituary
What can be said about Nellie? She was unique, spontaneous, and humorously blunt. She was born in Onion Lake on November 7, 1947, and was the sixth in a family of 9 kids. The family incorporated her personality traits with humour and laughter. Yes, the truth can hurt, but she knew how to turn the conversation into humour. Apparently, she knew how to push her sisters’ and brothers’ buttons but they always ended up laughing in the end.
Nellie was an immaculate house keeper. Her home was always clean and welcoming. She always had coffee for whoever came over to visit. Everyone knew she loved crushed canned tomatoes and grapes. She used to make unique down-filled blankets from light coloured cloth while watching country concerts on YouTube and CMT.
Nellie is predeceased by: her father, Victor Harper (1991); her mother, Christina (nee: Heathen) (1988); her siblings, Ethel (2016), and Edna Rose (2011); her granddaughter, Cherise (2017); her great grandson (chapan), Genesis (2012); and her special companion, Cecil Dillon (2018).
She is survived by: her children, Rhonda, Lionel, Kevin (Tanya); the father of her children, Fred Parenteau (Yvonne); and granddaughter Avaline, whom she and Henry Youngchief raised; her brothers, Willard (Lydia), and Frank (Donna); her sisters, Florence, Lydia (Don), Bertha, and Pauline; her 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step-children, and her friends.
