Violet Mae Perkins
1928-2021
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Violet Mae
Perkins, 92, of Sackville, NB, on Wednesday, March 3,
2021 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Economy,
NS, Violet was a daughter of the late Churchill and Lila (Spence)
Newton.
This journey began with a young woman
from rural Nova Scotia, where she met her husband who would bring her
to her new home in Sackville. She left her home in 1946, to begin her
new life, raising three children and later working outside of the home
at Henderson’s Pharmacy. She would meet many coworkers that
became friends outside of work. She would also see many
residents living in Sackville who were always greeted with a smile by
Violet, also known as ‘Sis’ to her Nova Scotia side of the
family.
In later years, her family, friends, and
acquaintances grew. She was active at St. Anne’s Church, enjoyed
playing cards, dancing and was able to experience some worldly
travel. Still Violet liked being home with family in
Sackville, as well as visiting her family in Nova Scotia.
Violet was a people person who enjoyed
sharing her experiences with others, up until her passing.
For those who knew her, her presence and affect on them lives on. She
will be dearly missed by those who have survived
her.
Violet will be dearly missed by her
daughters, Sharon Johnson and Mona Johnson; her daughter-in-law,
Bonnie Johnson; her grandchildren, Jonathan (Karen Maillet) Kay,
Melissa Kay, Candace (Daniel Estabrooks) Sears, Paul Sears, Tyrel
Johnson, Alana (Adrian Kelly) Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; ten great
grandchildren, Alexandra, Maddex, Milah, Lexen, Isabelle, Rebecca,
Benjamin, Ethan, Rhys, and Scarlett; two great-great
grandchildren, Prescott and Paxton; brother, Gary (Colleen) Newton;
sister-in-law, Eleanor Newton; her step-sons, Dan and Jim Perkins as
well as their families.
Besides her parents, Violet was
predeceased by her first husband, William ‘Bill’ Johnson; her second
husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Perkins; her son William ‘Billy’ Johnson; and
brothers, Arthur and Denzil.
Violet’s legacy lives on through the
four generations of her extended family that remains.
Goodbye ‘Sis’, Mum, Gram, Great-Gram and Great-Great-Gram, we wish you
could tell us just one more story. Until we meet
again.
The family wishes to extend their
deepest gratitude to the staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital and
the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and
professionalism.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge
Street, Sackville (506-364-1300). Due to Covid-19
restrictions, a funeral service for Violet will be held from the St.
Anne’s Anglican Church, at a later date. Interment to follow
in the Sackville Cemetery.
