Violet Amelia Baird née Morgan, wife of the late Donald M. Baird, mother of Peter, Alison and John, passed away peacefully on November 10.
Violet trained in nursing at Loma Linda, California, and later rose to the position of Head Nurse at the Montreal Chest Hospital. She left nursing to raise her three children, and upon moving to Oakville became deeply involved in the community, volunteering at her children’s school library and serving on the Sunday School committee and Parish Council of St Jude’s Anglican Church. She would later return to nursing, once more rising to a top position as Director of Nursing at Oaklands Regional Centre, before moving on to work at the Oakville Senior Citizens Residence. Upon retiring from nursing she found new creative outlets as a gifted painter and sculptor, as well as indulging her passion for reading, writing, gardening, and entertaining her many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer for Violet in her birth province of Newfoundland.
“The essential thing is to love life, to love it even when one is suffering. For life is all and love is all, and he who loves life, loves God.”
– Leo Tolstoy
