Violet Agnes Lorraine Larsen, daughter of Louis and Annie Ulvick, was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan on September 15, 1926. She passed away on October 22, 2021 at Castleview.
Violet grew up just outside Kinistino, and her dream job was working as a nurse’s aide at the Holy Family Hospital and Sanatorium in Prince Albert, unfortunately she was called home to care for her ailing father which ended her nursing career. She then went to Vancouver, BC where she worked as a cashier at The Bay and Woodwards. This is where she met her husband, Charles and was married June 25, 1949. It was quite funny to her that they both grew up in the Weldon area and she knew Charles’ mom, dad and brothers. They had 2 children Garry and Sharron while living in Vancouver, then moved to Weldon, Saskatchewan in 1949 and had 4 more children Dennis, Darlene, Kevin and Darcia.
While living in Weldon, Violet worked for the Co-op Store and School District, they also had a large garden to support the family. They lived in Weldon until 1965 when they moved to Prince George, BC. There Violet worked with the School District and at home, also again with a large garden. With 6 kids, that was a full time job. After retirement they moved to Castlegar where they purchased a condo in a retirement complex until her passing.
Violets talents were many. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, tutus and grad dresses. She excelled in decorating wedding cakes, making wedding bouquets and floral table centerpieces. She enjoyed gardening and preserving from her garden. Her passion for camping was only surpassed by her passion for hitting the road in their van. It broke her heart when they sold that van.
Violet is survived by her son-Garry Larsen (Linda), daughter-Sharron Horlick (Ron), son-Dennis Larsen (Loretta), daughter-Darlene Stark (Dan), son-Kevin Larsen (Lisa), daughter-Darcia Allan (Rick). Grandchildren: Kimberley, Christopher, Joshua, Josiah, Ryan, Chelsea, Kyle, Rheanna-Lee, Amanda and Brandon.
Great Grandchildren: Courtland, Keaton, Ella, Hayden, Zak, Parker, Sophia, Kallum, Quinten, Violet, Gage, Emily, Lucy, Ethan, Charlie and Lincoln.
She was predeceased by Husband Charles and Grandson Kristopher Vanin.
Violet’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Castleview for their care during her short stay and to Joan and Bill, her next door neighbours at Stellar Place for all the help they gave her over the years.
