Vera was a devoted wife to Edward George and they spent their time playing cards, being with family and taking drives. This week, she slipped away to be reunited with him. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend remembered by her laid-back personality, authenticity and her contagious smile and laugh. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchild as Nanny Whitehair, a name that she wore well. Vera had a dry sense of humor and was always game for some fun, with a pantry full of chips, cakes and candies her house was always open to everyone. She had hobbies like knitting, playing cards and bingo, but most of all, she enjoyed a good chat either on the phone or in the presence of others. Having chats with Vera will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visitation for family and friends to be held at Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton August 29, 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Funeral service will be Monday, August 30 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Heart’s Content. Interment to follow at the St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Heart’s Content.

She Is Gone
By David Harkins
You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
