It is with heavy hearts, we say goodbye to the head of our family, our boss, our mom, our grandmother, our friend Ursula Husfeldt on June 30th, 2021.
Ursula was born to Elfriede Adele (Clouth) Hofmann and Johann Hofmann on December 02, 1934, in the town of Hueckeswagen Germany. Following schooling she worked as a seamstress apprenticing in invisible mending. She then met Christian Husfeldt the love of her life for 66 years. They had two beautiful children, Dirk and Ilka, while living in Germany. They moved to Canada in 1959 and welcomed their third child Christian. Ursula had unconditional love for her family and would drop anything to care for them. She suffered the devastating loss of her daughter Ilka and later her son Dirk. After the loss of her daughter Ilka Marina Sabbe in 1985, she raised her daughters two children Shawn and Britta Sabbe. She raised them just like her own and had a tremendous bond with them.
Ursula lived her life to the fullest and traveled as much as she possibly could. Even if it was only to Hinkley/black bear for a weekend. She made many great friends along the way to Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, and Silver Bay. She made Florida her home every winter for 23 years and loved every flea market she found along the way. Ursula developed the love and an eye for antiques and collectables at flea markets, estate and garage sale. After starting her first yard sale in her front yard, that later became Ula’s trash and treasures for many years. Also later hosting annual flea markets at the Moose Hall. Ursula was a great entrepreneur and had an eye for a treasure. Chris was always by her side in the treasure hunt.
Ursula loved growing flowers and a large vegetable garden at her forever home in Paipoonge. She taught her children/grandchildren all about planting a garden and worked hard at it. Teaching her son Chrissy at a young age. Every holiday she looked forward to cooking, and her family looked forward to her cooking, Ursula could make the best potato salad and gravy along with everything else. Ursula always welcomed any person with a smile a coffee or something to eat. It did not matter if they were a stranger or a friend, you left with a hug and became a forever friend.
Ursula is survived by her loving husband Christian, son Christian (Leafy Husfeldt). Grandchildren Shawn Sabbe, Britta Sabbe (Tony DiPaolo), Natalie Husfeldt (Mike), Eric Husfeldt, Caitlin Slongo, and Poppy Husfeldt. Honorary Grand children Jennifer and Kara MacDonald. Great grandchildren Kane Sabbe (Kelsey), Kayden Sabbe, Taron Boucher, Rain Boucher, Kyeler Hayes, Dalton DiPaolo, Axel DiPaolo. Ursula was very excited about the recent birth of her 8th great grandchild and the expectation of her 9th. She also has many nieces and nephews that will miss her deeply. She will also be missed dearly by Stewart Grant, an adopted family member, who helped her at work and home and was a true friend. As well as many other friend’s whose company and connection Ursula enjoyed.
Ursula was pre-deceased by her parents Johann and Elfreide Hoffman, brothers Hans and Klaus, Sisters Leanore, Waltraud and Maryanne.
Along her journey Ursula gave much love and impacted many lives deeply. She will only be a thought away and will be held forever in our hearts. As per Ursula’s request a private celebration will be held.
