TOMLINSON Jack W January 4 2021

February 1927 – January 2021
Jack Tomlinson made the world a better place over the past 93 years, so it is with the deepest sorrow that the family announces his passing in Edmonton on January 4, 2021.
Jack and Dorothy were blessed with 70 years of marriage, sons Wayne (Dianne), Raymond (Shirley), daughter Beverly Ridsdale; grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) Mendieta, Jonathan, Jacqui (Clay) Vikse, Kim Robertson, Sara and Joleen Ridsdale; and great grandchildren Elianna, Adelaide, Claira, Taya, Natalie, Ingrid and Jack.
Jack was the fourth of five sons and one daughter born to Jack and Inez Tomlinson. Bob Tomlinson is the only surviving sibling. Jack was predeceased by brothers Alfred (Grace), Ralph (Min), Bruce (Lynne), and sister Betty Kelley.
Jack is loving remembered by his family and numerous nieces and nephews from both the Tomlinson and Little sides of the family, along with several generations of their families. People said he was a good man and a great Uncle, he was warm, friendly, jovial and a kind man.
Jack was a Charter and lifelong member of the Masonic Temple in Cold Lake and took great pride in being a Mason.
After Jack left his father’s farm, he worked on the construction of CFB Cold Lake, became a heavy-duty mechanic and worked in the ME section of the Cold Lake base till 1966, then joined ESSO where he worked in Cold Lake, Devon, the offshore rigs in Malaysia, and Red Water before retiring in 1987.
While raising their family Jack and Dorothy spent the winter’s curling and bonspieling, and the summer weekends at the cottage at Loon Lake. Jack loved to fish and often won the competition for the first, largest and most fish caught. Later on golf also became a passion, and he enjoyed this sport up to the age of 88 years. Jack loved to take their truck and camper, fifth wheel or motorhome and go out on golf weekends with their friends.
The work in Malaysia provided the opportunity for world travel and he and Dorothy visited many neighboring countries in Asia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Hawii, Mexico, Europe, and Fiji. Following retirement Jack bought a motorhome and they toured across Canada and around much of the USA. They purchased a lot in Yuma Arizona and set up a Park Model which became their winter home away from home for almost 30 years. A wealth of memories came from all the times spent with the close friends they made in Yuma at happy hours, golf, potluck dinners, shuffleboard or time at the pool.
Jack was always there to help. He could figure out the most challenging of problems and fix almost anything. Jack always contributed to what was going on and left each place he went better than when he arrived.
He will always be remembered with love, gratitude and admiration.
