« Tim » Stillman Barnard

Only a little over 2 years since his wife Joan passed away, Tim had his last dance as the music in a wonderful life came to a close last week. Tim met Joan, his wife to be, at a dance at the age of 17 and they spent the the rest of their years continuing to dance together. Their life was the type that inspires. Coming from nothing they worked tirelessly together to achieve everything they wanted for themselves. They weathered all of the ups and downs in their life and remained focused on each other to the end. Tim was very cut and dry, with an amazing sense of humour. You always knew exactly where you stood with him, and if he liked you, he would soon have you laughing.
He was known by everyone who dealt with him as a man of his word. Once you agreed on something together, for him it was written in stone. He was strict but caring, and would go out of his way to help others, provided they were prepared to help themselves. He went to work at a very early age and was very skilled with his hands and eventually settled on work as a floor layer, but even with a minimal education he knew that he wanted more for him and Joan.
At the age of 19 he bought his first apartment building after pitching a well thought out story to a banker. The banker agreed to back him and he became a landlord. From there him and Joan worked hand in hand to build their future and never looked back.
I asked him just a few nights before his passing if he had any regrets or would change anything. His answer was “no”.
He knew he had a wonderful life and appreciated it to the fullest. To say that he will be missed is an understatement.
The hurt is not for those who leave us, it’s for those left behind, and his passing creates a void that can never be filled.
He was born in Halifax a son of the late Stillman Forrest and Hazel Mae (Marshall) Barnard.
He leaves behind his sons; Todd (Magda) and Ken (Janet); grandchildren; Lauren, Scott, Timothy, and Brooke (Nyron) Ali; great grandchildren Kayden and Nolan Ali sister; Joyce Book and brother Harold (Mabel) Barnard.
He is predeceased by sisters Shirley, Marie, Charlotte Ann, Elizabeth.
Sadly due to covid we won’t be holding a formal funeral at this time. He is being attended to by T K Barnard Funeral Home.
For those who would like to, a donation to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
