Obituary of Thomas Gregory DeWolf
It is with broken hearts that we have to announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and brother Thomas “Tommy” DeWolf of D’Escousse, that occurred at his home on May 17, 2021.
Born May 25, 1951 in Antigonish he was the son of the late Frederick Leo and Mary Martha (MacIsaac) DeWolf.
His door was always open to family and friends, old and new, all met with a smile and a glass. He was at his happiest when catering to his grandchildren, carting them to the beach for clams, to collect glass, build bird houses, attending hockey and fiddle events, and keeping an inordinate number of water balloons for the children. He was an attentive, loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He will be missed by his boating brethren; the mackerel will be safer and the outdoors a little bit quieter in his absence. The dance floor will have a few less scuffs, yacht club weekend will have a couple less hands, but he will not be forgotten. Catherine and children are extending appreciation to the family, friends, physicians, nurses, VON, palliative care, EHS, and the community who went above and beyond in their support. It was truly appreciated. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Catherine (White), of 49 years; daughters, Dawn (David) DeWolf-Landry, French Cove, Holly (Shawn Barnes) DeWolf, Dartmouth; son, Todd (Leslie Kenwell), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Tia Landry, Cavan Landry, Reagen DeWolf, and Hannah DeWolf; brothers, Joseph DeWolf, Billerica, Mass., Edwin (Joan) DeWolf, Petit de Grat, Bobby (Marie) DeWolf, Arichat; sisters, Rose Booth, Halifax, Mary Poirier, D’Escousse. Besides his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth DeWolf, sister-in-law Patsy DeWolf, and brothers in law Russell Poirier and Keith Booth. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, August 28, 2021 at 11 am in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat with Rev. John Baptiste DeCoste preceding. Burial to be held at a later date in St. Hyacinth Cemetery in D’Escousse. Social distancing, sanitizing, and the wearing of masks will be enforced.
