Sylvia Grace Dennis passed away peacefully at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after a short illness. She is survived by her son Michael (Carmen) of Grand Forks and daughter Kim of Vancouver, and her grandchildren: Michael of Vernon, Diana (David) of Prince George, Chrissy of Vancouver, Jen (Joel) of Vernon, Jodi (James) of Vernon, Casey of Vernon, Page of Vancouver and Coral of Vancouver. Sylvia was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Jay, Odin, Alejandra, Ryden, Amelya, Nathan, and Juliet. She is predeceased by her father (John), mother (Katherine), first husband Michael, second husband Ken, and her beloved son, Randy.
In Buchanan, Saskatchewan, Sylvia was the youngest of 11 children born to immigrants who left Galicia, Austria (now Ukraine) prior to the First World War. As an adult she moved from Saskatchewan to BC, living in Williams Lake, North Vancouver, Kamloops, and Vernon. Sylvia also ventured east to Halifax, Nova Scotia before returning to set down her roots in the Okanagan. Sylvia was a gifted artist, talented vocalist, and dedicated gardener with a passion for politics. Upon her retirement from her career in retail, which included modeling for Vernon’s Eaton’s store, she was an avid volunteer and dedicated much of her time to serving the Vernon community.
Sylvia led a healthy and independent life into her 92nd year and will be remembered for her fruitful gardens and love of political satire. She will be honoured by her family in a celebration of life this spring.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Sylvia Grace Dennis November 5th 2021..
