Obituary of STEPHIE YAWORSKI
STEPHIE YAWORSKI
August 26, 1931- July 30, 2021
Stephie Yaworski, age 89, passed away peacefully July 30, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital.
Stephie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the second child of Slawa and Mary Tymoszyk. She grew up on Templeton Avenue, which at that time was farmland.
In 1952, Stephie married Tony Yaworski and they settled in the Rossdale area where they made many lifelong friends, before moving to Rivercrest where she spent the rest of her life. They welcomed Barry in 1966 which made their life complete.
Stephie worked at Bristol Aerospace and then for many years at Eaton’s, retiring in 1996 to help babysit her granddaughters. They were the lucky recipients of potato pancakes, perogies, banana splits, and strawberry sundaes with sprinkles after school for many years! Stephie was Baba not only to Katrina and Nikki, but to all their friends and the neighbourhood kids who she welcomed with open arms and a “just call me Baba”.
Stephie loved to travel and made her way to far flung places such as Africa, Israel, Egypt, Australia, London, and made many gambling trips to the States where she had adventures and made lasting memories with her friends.
Stephie had a huge heart and loved helping others. She was a long-time member of St. Theresa’s Church, and was active in the Catholic Womens’ League, as well as at Middlechurch Home and at the North End Seniors Centre with the grandma and grandpa swim. She would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help those around here.
Stephie was predeceased by her parents, Slawa and Mary Timoshyk, her husband Tony Yaworski, and brother John Timoshyk. She is survived by her sister Joyce Bruneau, her son Barry (Helen), granddaughters Katrina (Curtis) Einarson, and Nikki (Anders Giesbrecht), and her great granddaughters Adeline, Violet, and Charlotte; as well as her nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at St. Theresa’s Church, 3597 Main Street in West St. Paul with Rev. Monsignor Maurice Comeault, P.H. officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Stephie can be made to Villa Rosa (Villarosa.mb.ca).
Many thanks to the staff at River Ridge II Retirement Residence and the St. Boniface Hospital, and especially to Katrina and Nikki, niece Debbie, and close friend Joan Shaw for the care and love shown to Baba during the last years.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de STEPHIE
