Stephen Jonathan Logan 2021

Stephen Jonathan Logan passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 5, 2021 at his home in Lincoln, NB at the age of 53. Stephen was born in Fredericton, NB on June 17, 1967 son of the late Elaine Buckley Doiron. He grew up in Mactaquac, and spent several years in the city that he loved, Saint John.
Predeceased by His mother, Elaine (Buckley) Doiron, His beloved maternal grandparents, Lila Mae Buckley, and Eugene Buckley, and both paternal grandparent’s. He had the great privilege of knowing two sets of great grandparents in his lifetime, Annie and Gordon Currie, and Celia and Leo Buckley, and cousin closest in age, Brian Holmes, whom always seemed more like a little brother.
He will be greatly missed by his only sibling, his sister, Sandy (Buckley) Morgan; nieces and nephew, Kimberly Morgan of Lincoln, Shawna-Leigh Morgan of Saint John, Geoffrey (Amanda) Morgan of Kingsley, Max (Julia) Steeves of Fredericton, and Savannah Steeves of St. Catherine’s, ON; Great niece McKenzie Morgan, and Great nephews Jacob Morgan, Aaron Morgan and Dawson Morgan, and his chosen sister, lifelong best friend, Marjorie Norquay Cochran (Michael), his best friends, Christina Nickerson, Danny Roy and Mark Wilson, who became his chosen family and other wonderful friends, too numerous to mention individually. He is survived by several cousins and his dear aunts, Carol Kennard Clark and Lorna Doiron (Godmother).
In fact, Stephen made friends where ever he went, due in part by his clever, humorous, sarcastically witty personality. What a whirligig! One of his favourite pastimes was posting inappropriate jokes, pushing the limits as a game, to see how long it would be before he landed in social media “jail” again. He loved to stir the pot, on the most controversial of topics. One stroll through his social media pages, will explain all one needs to know about his twisted sense of humour. .He loved to laugh, at you, or with you, about you or about himself. Nobody and nothing was off the table. If it made him laugh, he’d share it and either make you laugh, or cringe. He believed if he thought it, you should hear it, unfiltered! Steve loved to laugh and to make others laugh, and maybe think a little, too. He was a great lover of music, and a big time movie buff.
He very much enjoyed a good ghost story. He loved exploring haunted places and sharing his findings and adventures, and promised when he passed on, he would come back to haunt those closest, by grabbing their behinds and other “oh so Stephen” antics.
Steve very much enjoyed his job as office administrator, for Sewell’s Paving. He would often share stories of the jokes and shenanigans shared with his employer, his employers family and his co-workers. He would often have to call his sister’s place of employment, and would jokingly tell her coworkers to “go kick her chair”, or “hide her jelly bean jar”. They will miss the humour of hearing his line locate calls.
He had a tender heart when it came to animals. He especially adored Sandy’s greyhound, Luna, and she him, whom he’d occasionally babysit. They had a special bond. He loved all animals. He was the kind of man who would quietly go out of his way to help a friend, grumbling in his teasing way about it, but helping non the less.
Stephen was a wonderful cook, and took great pride in his cooking skills He made the best ravioli, including home made noodles. His favourite dessert was peanut butter pie, and he made a mean one! When sharing recipes with his family, he’d often purposely leave out one critical ingredient, laughing when it didn’t turn out the exact same way, and would always ask, “did you remember to add…?”
He lived for several years in western Canada, noting how gorgeous the Rockies were and that we all needed to see them. But being the Maritime boy that he was, loving the ocean, especially New River Beach, the east coast called him home where he’s remained ever since.
He had a real talent for restoring antiques, and a great knowledge of them. This included antique lamps, antique sewing machines, and most recently restoring old style train engines, building quite a model. In fact he was so enthusiastic about it, he built a set for his nephew and another for one of his best friends. He was the kind of person who craved knowledge on a wide range of interests, and could turn his hand to most anything, from mechanics to home renovations.
Some of his favourite moments with friends were the multiple trips with Marjorie, when they were teenagers, breaking down, and her mother, Marion always coming to the rescue. He always looked at her as his second mother. He treasured his long chats and visits with Mark, adventures with Danny who of course helped keep his pride and joy, his Ford Fusion detailed to perfection, Ukrainian food and adventures with Sonya and her mother, in Alberta and of course his endless adventures with “wifey”, Christina, and his other Saint John friend Wanda, his visits with lifelong friend Carol (Chris) and sharing great belly laughs. Each and everyone of you were his chosen family, and he loved you fiercely!
In the past year Steve had the great honour of meeting members of his paternal side of his family, with whom he’d been estranged his entire life. He felt truly blessed especially to be reunited with his Godmother, his Aunt Lorna, whom he loved dearly, along with his cousins.
Stephen will be deeply missed by his best friends, his many extended friends, all his family including the niece farthest away and dearest to his heart, and especially the last remaining member of his immediate family, his sister Sandy, who will be forever lost without her “favourite jackass”, as she always called him. He had some pet names for her too All lovingly in good fun.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held at a later time, when we can gather and truly celebrate his life together. Donations in memory of Stephen may be made to the heart and stroke foundation, any animal rescue, or charity of the donor’s choice.
