Stephen Cronkwright
Friday September 24, 1954 – Tuesday July 13, 2021
Peacefully at home in Orangeville, with his family by his side. Steve passed after a courageous fight against cancer. His determination to beat the odds allowed us more time to be with him. We are so grateful for this.
Beloved husband and best friend of Karen for 34 years. Loving father of Jennifer (Chris). Proud Gramps of Maxine. Survived by his brother Michael and his wife Lynne of Calgary and his sister Lesley and her husband Kevin of Georgetown. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Heather (Nathan), David (Madi), Alison, Meghan, Will and Emma. Predeceased by his father Jim (2010) and mother Molly (2021). Loved son-in-law of Don and Vera (2018) Smith. Brother-in-law to Andrew and Tonya Lunau Smith.
He will be missed by cousins, friends and colleagues.
Steve was a gentle soul with a kind heart. He believed if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all. He was happiest puttering around the garden, tinkering in the house, collecting many things and listening to his extensive CD collection. Taking time for snoozes with his dogs was a favourite pastime in recent years.
He loved his family very much. His quiet strength made us feel safe. He enjoyed sharing his unique style of jokes. It was a family tradition passed down by his father. We can’t wait to see what Maxine has to offer!
Steve’s favourite place to be was in Grand Cayman Islands. He and Karen were fortunate to share many vacations in paradise.
In keeping with Steve’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
Cremation has taken place. He will be scattered in his chosen resting places.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice Dufferin or Westminster United Church, Orangeville.
We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Dr.Kirstin Perdrizet, Dr. Andrew Chiang and the Oncology Care Team at Brampton Civic Hospital. Your expertise gave him and us the gift of time.
Thank you to Dr. Reta French for exemplary palliative care and end of life care to Steve. You were a tremendous support to the family.
A very special thank you to the Bayshore Nurses for your loving care to Steve and outstanding support to our family. In particular, Jennifer, who went above and beyond. Thank you.
The entire family wishes to thank everyone for your cards, phone calls, prayers and support.
Always in our hearts and memories. Rest In Peace Steve. You were one of the good ones!
