Stanley Deadmarsh passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, at Kelowna General Hospital.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Frances, his sons Darryl (Kelsey) and Kenny (Caty), his grandchildren Ethan, Teagan, Cora and Levi, his brother Gordon (Mary) and his sister Eileen (Chris). He is predeceased by his parents Lenora and Wilfred and nephew Rodney.
Stanley was born on August 30th, 1944, and grew up in Montrose and Fruitvale. In his early days he enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. He started working at Cominco in 1964 and started an apprenticeship as a Millwright in 1974. Around this time, he built the family home in Rivervale. Stan worked at Cominco for 37 years. Stan met Fran, the love of his life in Trail, and married her in 1971. They welcomed two sons into the family, Darryl in 1974 and Kenny in 1976. Stan was a loving father, and he was very involved with minor hockey for both sons. Stan built a summer home for the family at Christina Lake and enjoyed his time at the lake with his family and in particular his grandchildren. He always had a project on the go at the lake and he loved gardening- he would water his garden by the road and chat with everyone who came along. Stan was an avid hunter and looked forward to hunting trips with friends to the Elk Valley and Flathead Valley. After retirement Stan and Fran enjoyed many road trips to the US and vacations to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Alaska. Stan enjoyed meeting his friends for a coffee or a Kokanee at the Rex Hotel and would always listen to a story or share one of his own. Stan and Fran celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 17th, 2021, at Christina Lake with close family- memories of the celebration will be cherished by us all. Stan lived a wonderful and full life. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by many.
The family would like to thank the staff in the KBRH ICU for the amazing care Stan received during this difficult time.
The family will be planning a service in the spring as restrictions allow.
As an expression of sympathy, donations made in Stan’s memory to either the KBRH Intensive Care Unit www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca or to the Trail Wildlife Association for conservation projects in the Kootenay Boundary Region (PO BOX 266, Trail, BC, V1R 4L5) would be greatly appreciated.
“More time with us was not meant to be, his beautiful soul has been set free. Always in our hearts, we will miss our beloved Stanley.”
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
