Stan was born on August 16, 1954, to Henry and Thelma Kreutzer. He was their 6th bouncing baby boy and the youngest of 7 children, later joined by 2 younger sisters, that completed the family of 9 children. As a youngster, Stan was a sweet little blonde haired, blue eyed boy, with a little twinkle of mischief in his eye. Stan started school in Lipton, Sask. and grew up on the family farm. In 1967, the family farm was sold and they moved to Reserve, SK where they bought a garage and cafe. Stan showed his maturity at almost 13 years old, by running the garage on his own, as his family moved from Lipton, almost 200 miles away. Wow! Talk about responsible. Stan then attended school in Hudson Bay, SK and was the first of the family to graduate high school. He helped his dad at the tire shop but his teen years were not all work and no play. Stan enjoyed the freedom of living in a town, in the middle of the forest. Swimming in the river, fishing, tracking animals, walking through forests dense with evergreens, or clearings covered in hundreds of ferns. It was definitely, God’s country. A young man’s Heaven. No wonder Stan became an avid hunter.
In 1972, Stan was hunting but not for deer. He was hunting for, his dear Phyllis. She was a pretty little thing, with long brown hair and a beautiful smile. That was it! He was caught! On September 15th, 1973, Stan married his true love. So it began, a new branch on the Kreutzer tree. Stan and Phyllis lived in Regina where their daughter, Connie, was born. Within a year, Stan’s family moved to Govan, SK where he ran his own tire shop. Just like his dad and brother, Al, selling tires was in his blood. The birth of their two sons completed their family, Chris and Wade. Stan and Phyllis moved to Estevan for a number of years and then to Moose Jaw, always working in the tire industry. Finally, Stan tried his hand at co-owning a tire business in Rosthern, SK. They lived in Rosthern for 6 years and then decided to move back to Moose Jaw and retire and be closer to their children and grandchildren. Stan worked a bit at Moose Jaw Toyota in parts, then delivered coffee part time before he retired fully 3 years ago.
Stan loved his family!! They were his pride and joy and he always had time to help or play. He enjoyed gaming with the boys, and most of all, teasing and laughing with everyone. If you heard his boisterous laugh, you knew Stan was in the area. Last but not least, Stan loved the outdoors. Whether he quadded, camped, fished or hunted, he was happy. Stan’s hunting buddies were very special to him. I’m sure Stan is just thrilled with his new hunting grounds.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Henry and G.Thelma Kreutzer. Also by his loving wife of 47 years, Phyllis Kreutzer (nee Jaques). Stan is survived by his children: Connie (Kam),Chris (Trisha), and Wade (Ashley). Grandchildren: Micalya (Kevin), Myles, Kelsey, Koralyn (Harmeet) Jessica, Aydrik, and Jonas. Stan’s siblings: Bob and Shirl Kreutzer – Regina, Al and Gayle Kreutzer -Govan, Ron and Hope Kreutzer – Fort Qu’Appelle, John and Pat Kreutzer – Balgonie, Betty and Brian Dooley – Regina, Brian and Mary Kreutzer – Regina, Gwen and Gerald Rupchan – Regina, Henrietta and Keith Hilderman – Strasbourg.
