With broken hearts our family announces the passing of our cherished mother, Stamatiki (“Tina”) Tsambis (nee Kremastiotis), who quietly passed on Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Herakles (“Herc”) Tsambis. Born to Elias and Patra Kremastiotis (nee Bravakis) in Sykia, Greece. Stamatiki is survived by her five daughters: Pope (Michael), Patra, Maria, Joanne (Mario), and Helen (Rod); also three grandsons raised by Tina and Herc as their own: Ryan (Mandi), Wesley (Kristien), and John; and grandchildren Matina (Shawn), Matthew (Karlee), Arion, and Behn; great-grandchildren: JJ, Quin, and Oliver; Siblings: Maria (predeceased), Angelo (Niki), John (Angela), Sophia (Aris, predeceased); as well as may special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tina left her family and homeland behind, sailing on a ship to Canada to marry her beloved Herakles. An extremely religious woman, Tina was deeply devoted to her family and to God. She spent her life selflessly and tirelessly caring for her family. She loved nothing more than to have everyone together for a delicious Greek meal, sharing stories, laughter, and creating wonderful memories. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing and crocheting clothing for her daughters, having worked as a seamstress in Athens, Greece, and Toronto as a young woman. Her unconditional love and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew her. Tina will be eternally missed.
Funeral Service in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 486 Ester Road, Sudbury, on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 12noon. Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery. (No funeral home visitation. Friends may call at the church after 11:45am Monday. Face masks are required.) In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre would be appreciated.
