With heavy hearts we announce the passing of RON TIMOTHY SOMERVILLE, our beloved husband, father and Pa. Ron took his final ride on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the age of 66 years.
Ron was born May 31, 1954 in Pincher Creek, Alberta, to Frank and Grace Somerville. He attended Kate Andrews High School in Coaldale, Alberta, where he met and married his highschool sweetheart and soulmate, Jeanette (Potts). Together, they had two beautiful children.
Ron was a Power Engineer working most of his life in the Lethbridge area for Swifts, Canada Packers, St. Michael’s and Chinook Regional Hospital and senior lodges.
He was a devoted family man who was very proud of his children and grandchildren. His love for his Harley Davidson motorcycle took him on many adventures, including trips to Sturgis, where he loved the hum of the bikes going through the mountains. He also enjoyed the simple things in life: music, dancing, fishing, camping, good coffee, ice cream and hotdogs. He couldn’t pass a hotdog stand without stopping.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Somerville (Potts), son Tim (Carey Starner) Somerville of Coalhurst and daughter Jenn (Jeremy) Watterworth of Lethbridge, along with six grandchildren: Trystin Somerville, Cole Somerville, Julian Watterworth, Amelia Reid, Mak Watterworth and Shelby Watterworth. Ron is also survived by his sisters: Audrey Somerville of Edmonton and Linda (Frans) Kuilboer of Lessard Lake, brothers and sisters-in-law John and Carolyn (Woods) Potts of Coaldale, Kathleen Potts of Vulcan, Jim and Maryann (Stotz) Potts of Lethbridge, Lori (Potts) and Mark Harold of Coalhurst and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by both his parents Frank and Grace (Peters)Somerville, sister Carol Tymchuk, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ernest and Joyce (Newman) Potts, sister-in-law Betty (Potts) Brousseau, brothers-in-law Bill McMahon and Lloyd Dalton and two nieces: Mindy and Madison Potts.
Ron will forever be remembered by many for his smile, goofy sense of humour and big heart.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Alzheimer Society (#40, 1202 – 2 Avenue S, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0E3).
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Somerville Ron May 31 1954..
