It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Dillon Simpson on March 1, 2021 at the age of 23 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents Ron and Karen; sister Erin, nephew Ryder, special friend Selah and her daughter Ahkira, as well as many relatives and friends.
Dillon had a wild spirit. Vibrant, full of life and endlessly full of love. Dillon literally gave the shirt off his back, time and time again. His heart was so big, it made him vulnerable and yet the most amazing person to encounter. When he shared it with you, then you could witness his spirit come to life, and he was always sharing. He came to life in nature. He could run and explore forests, mountains, streams, and creeks forever, which his spirit is free to do, now. He loved animals and fire. Nature calmed him and allowed him to simply, be. Dillon will be honored daily, through trying to embody these beautiful elements of his spirit within our family. He will be missed dearly and the memories with him cherished and nourished as we try to navigate this world without his smile. He inspired me, his sister, to support others who struggle to thrive in this world, and he continues to do so. Dillon brought lightness and humor to the darkest of times, giving love, strength, and resilience in a seemingly endless capacity. Since the day he entered our family, we all felt lucky to be bringing him home, because we were. Without his light, our family feels lost and within darkness during this time; but yet, we feel lucky to have our boy guiding us with strength, resiliency, humor and unconditional love; at peace and at home, in nature and in spirit.
In his honor, a tree, along with his ashes will be planted in the mountains, where his spirit can be free near Little Elbow River, Kananaskis Country, Alberta.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to: Fresh Start Recovery Centre (www.freshstartrecovery.ca) in Dillon’s name, where a plaque will also be displayed in his honor.
