Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sidney (Sid) Poole on August 6, 2021. He passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 72.
Sid was the beloved husband for 46 years of Dorothy (Witherall) and the proud, loving father of Candice (Paul Krotz).
Predeceased by his parents Annie Beatrice and Sidney G. Poole, brothers Newman (Ruby) and Gearld, and brother-in-law Seward Green.
He is survived by his brother Don (Eva), sisters Barbara and Doreen (Chris) and sister-in-law Shirley.
Affectionately known as ‘Junior’, Sid will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Sid was born in a small town in Newfoundland and moved to Ontario in the early 1970’s, finding work with a mining contracting firm. He and his wife Dorothy spent most of their life in North Bay, with a few moves in between. After a move brought them to Timmins, Sid became an avid golfer.
In 1988, Sid joined the Freemasonry family in North Bay still continuing after he moved to Timmins; becoming the WM of Aurum lodge and then DDGM of Temiskaming District. In 2000, he joined the Shriners and was active in both organizations to the end. He very much valued the friendships he made and the activities he experienced.
In keeping with Sid’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Masonic memorial service and celebration of life will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre for the care they provided to Sid.
If desired, a donation can be made in Sid’s memory to the North Bay Regional Health Centre or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
