Shirley Ann Martin
1935-2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley
Martin, 85, of Monarch Hall, formerly of Riverview, NB. The eldest
child of Harry Hibbert and Alice Armstrong of Moncton, Shirley was
born a tiny miracle that grew to make a large impact on the lives of
everyone who came to know her. Raised in a busy home on Maple Street,
she was an exceptionally bright student with a love of reading that
continued for life. After marrying her sweetheart, George, Shirley
excitedly welcomed four children of her own before going to work
alongside her beloved husband at Star Electric. She was a natural in
business despite the « boys club » atmosphere of the time,
Shirley was a true lady that knew how to stand her ground when needed
and earned the respect of all those around her. With over 50 years in
the construction industry under her belt, she retired from a full
career, but she never slowed down.
Throughout her life, Shirley’s love for her family
was first and foremost. Never missing a piano recital, birthday,
graduation, or play, she was always there to support her ever growing
family even her great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, George, Shirley will
be dearly missed by her three sons: James (Constance), Richard,
Terrence (Lisa); her daughter: Kimberley; grandchildren: Jaymie
(Mark), Gillian (Justin), Thomas (Katie), Geoffrey, Kara-Lea (David),
Tyrell, Desiree, Samantha and Rebecca; great-grandchildren: Lauren,
Luke, Henry, Charlie, Elliott, Nora and Ryker; brothers Robert
(Claudette), the late William (Cathy), and James; sisters: Debra (Ken)
MacDonald and Victoria Armstrong, as well as many nieces, nephews,
extended family and friends.
Her arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s
Funeral Home and Cremation Center 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview
(869-2007). A graveside service to celebrate Shirley’s life
will take place Friday October 8, 2021 at 10:00 am with interment at
Alderwood Cemetery alongside her husband, George. Donations
made to Alzheimers, Friends of the Moncton Hospital or a charity of
the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her
family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
