Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Shelley Smith announce her passing on February 12, 2021.
Born in Calgary on December 16, 1969, Shelley was known to be an adventures child with a love for gymnastics and an exuberant personality. Shelley had a vast array of skills and hobbies, from working as a mechanic to obtaining her Real Estate license, yet she always found time to broaden her horizons and enjoy life to the fullest, including skydiving and horse breaking. She was also a member of IPSIC and received her black badge.
For the past 20 years Shelley was a resident in Taber Alberta, where she was renowned for her impeccable work ethic, being the first woman to receive an Iron Man award for her work at Ar-Tech. Shortly after, she was involved in a devastating workplace accident leaving her with severely damaged lungs. However, that would never stop her from continuing to work in public service, though her health had deteriorated, she continued to do volunteer work through ESL and the Taber Food Bank.
She often spoke of her friends at TFB and how helping others brought her so much joy. Wherever she went she was sure to make an impact and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Shelley was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.
She is survived by her only daughter Krystal and son in law Deej Tanner, as well as her two grandchildren Daymien and Diamond Tanner, also by her mother Mary and her father Larry Fassnidge, her sister Kelly and her two brothers Barry and Perry, her nieces Jasmine and Kaelyn and her nephews Josh and Jacob.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Verna and Dwayne Forsyth.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday the 20th of March at the Legion Cadet Hall, north of Taber.
Due to covid restrictions we are having separate, scheduled ceremonies, please call or text Krystal at 403-715-2968 to schedule.
