Obituary
Shelley Marie Fitzpatrick
(August 12, 1969 to October 14th 2021)
Our hearts are shattered by the loss of Shelley at such a young age after a long battle against scleroderma which included two stem cell transplants. Shelley was one of the toughest person’s one could know; you would never ever hear her complain or ask for help. She found ways to maintain her independence and not let her condition define her.
Shelley was born in the Comox Valley and moved to Maple Ridge as a young adult to begin a life on her own. After marrying an RCMP officer in 1996, she fast became accustomed to relocating, adapting to new places and exploring Canada (Ucluelet, Port Alice, Prince Rupert, Williams Lake, Kitimat, Prince George, Prince Edward Island, and then finally to Ottawa)
A child, mother, wife, sister, and friend to so many, Shelley was an amazing, loving, and courageous woman. Shelley recently celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary in August. She was an active and social person who loved fitness, playing golf in the summer, curling in the winter or enjoying a nice glass of red wine with friends or family; but her greatest love was watching Nick and Ashley grow up playing various sports and then becoming young adults of their own; her children and family meant the world to her.
And if you ever needed an update on reality tv shows, Shelley was your go-to. She also enjoyed watching home renovations programs which kept Dan on his toes with reno ideas of her own.
Her co-workers will remember her for the Thursday mess nights where she and a few others would gather for a wine(or 2) after work and share stories and laughs.

The family would like to thank Dr. Atkins and his team, the nurses, doctors, and employees at Ottawa General Hospital for the excellent care they provided Shelley over the past few years.
Shelley is survived by her husband Dan Fitzpatrick, children Nick and Ashley, parents John and Sharon Hastings, her brother Terry Hastings, her grand dogs Kaia and Luna(“ba boon”), her lifelong best friend Jane Pence, her brother in law Brian Fitzpatrick (Carolyn), sister in law Susan Knowles (Carl Lanteigne), nieces Emma, and Abby Fitzpatrick, and nephews Kyle and Michael Knowles, and numerous other cousins and extended family members.
Shelley is pre-deceased by her grandparents Bill and Nan McConochie, Norrie and Anne Hastings, and uncles John and Kevin McCabe
