Sheila Doubleday (December 10, 1940 – March 20,2021)
With sadness, we share that Sheila passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Shelia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Albie Sr. and her son Albie Jr., both pictured here with her. She credited the success of her joyful marriage to the fact that she and Albie had fun and did everything together. Albie Jr. was the apple of her eye and she was immensely proud of him. She was Nanny to granddaughters Afton (Dan) and Alexandrea (Richard) and great-grandchildren Elijah, Everly and Findley and she spoiled every one of them with love. She is also survived by her twin brother Frankie (Pat), and sister Linda. Sheila had deep roots in her community, with many life-long friends.
Sheila made every occasion, holiday, and birthday a special celebration with attention to each detail. Even her simplest meals were always a feast and she took joy in seeing every belly full. She always welcomed the company of friends and family – except on bingo night. She was well-known for her skills as a gardener and her annual plant sales.
Sheila was predeceased by her mother Flora, father Gordon, stepfather James, sister Edna, and brother Terry.
Her family thanks the nurses and staff at the Victoria General Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and care, as well as the many friends and neighbours who gave and offered help. Arrangements are taking place under the care of Ronald. A Walker Funeral Home, and a private family burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be offered at www.rawalker.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s name may be made to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, or a charity of your choice.
