Sheldon’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sheldon Smith announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on June 9th, 2021 at the age of 51 years old. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Linda Sheppard Smith Humber, his father Jake Smith (Wendy). His children, Sebastian & Christian Payne (Megan). His grandchildren Mya & Hudson. His brothers Joseph (Catherine) & Gerry Humber (Jeannine); sister Jennifer (Craig). His nieces Hailey, Trinity & Charissa. His Aunts, Patsy (Alex) MacDonald, Eleanor (Cecil) MacDonald, Gertrude Sheppard, Shirley Pretty, Betty Smith; Uncles, Randy (Edith) Smith, Attwood (Helen) Smith. A large circle of cousins and friends. His special friends Phillip, Andrew and Byron. Sheldon was predeceased by his Grandparents Gordon and Wilhelmina Sheppard & Cecil & Rachel Smith. His Aunts Rebecca Smith, Elaine Mullins & Julie Russell; Uncles, David Sheppard, Gordon Jr. Sheppard & Boyd Smith.
Sheldon was a kind and loving soul and was liked by everyone who knew him. He was so artistic and musically inclined. He loved to draw and play guitar with his buddies. He was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.
Sheldon fought a hard battle with cancer and he was strong right until the end. The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU in St. John’s for being so kind to them while they were there and giving him his dying wish to come home to Corner Brook. They would also like to thank the staff of the ICU in Corner Brook for taking care of Sheldon until his death, especially his wonderful nurse Tammy.
Due to Covid-19 health restrictions, a private family viewing will take place on Wednesday, June 16th, 2021, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at St. James Anglican Church in Lark Harbour. The funeral service will also take place on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at 2:00 pm, at St. James Anglican Church in Lark Harbour, with Reverend Effie Organ officiating. Cremation to follow and interment will take place at a later date which will be limited to close family and friends. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The family guestbook for signing condolences is available by visiting www.country-haven.ca.
