It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Bubby and aunt, who passed away peacefully at Hillel Lodge on Sunday November 28, 2021 at the young age of 100. Adored mother of Fran Spinks (John) and Dodie Potechin (Bram). Much loved Bubby of Micah Potechin (Adina), Daniel Potechin (Sara) and Noah Potechin (Rajini). Great Bubby Sally of Oren, Ariel, Liana, Ella, Desmond, Sydney (predeceased) and Isla. Beloved aunt to Joy Kardish (David) and David Schlesinger (Anne) and their children who she loved dearly.
Predeceased by her husband Max, her companion Max Zelikovitz, her great granddaughter Sydney, her parents Rose and Abraham Goren, her brother David Goren and sister Ann Monson.
Sally was a pioneering business woman, who in her forties, with her sister Honey, started the successful Regency Dress Salon. In her later years Sally became an aspiring artist.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillel Lodge and her special caregiver, Nelia Velasco, for their exceptional and compassionate care.
The funeral service is private. It will be live streamed on Monday, November 29th at 11:30 am. The link can be found on the KBI synagogue website and on the Hulse, Playfair and McGarry funeral home website.
Shiva is strictly private due to Covid protocols. Memorial donations in Sally’s memory can be made to Sydney Sloan Potechin Memorial Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation, or to Hillel Lodge, Ottawa.
