Obituary of Sadie Margaret Zed
The death of Sadie Margaret (Joseph) Zed, wife of the late Ronald Zed Sr., occurred on January 15, 2021, at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born May 16, 1921, in Sydney, N.S., to the late Peter and Mary (Jacobs) Joseph.
Sadie was a wonderful cook and many have enjoyed her Lebanese bread and Fatayer. She was also a member of the St. Raymond Society for many years. Sadie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her Cape Breton family. She was proud of her Cape Breton roots.
Sadie is survived by her grandchildren Peter (Stacey) Zed of Vancouver, Derek (Debbie) of Miramichi, and Joanne Zed-Murphy (Carl) of Halifax; daughter-in-law: Priscilla Zed; four great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Isaac Zed of Vancouver, and Ryan and Jillian Murphy of Halifax. Besides her parents and devoted husband, she was predeceased by her only son Ronald Zed Jr. in 1995, sisters Lillian and Victoria; and brothers: Joe, George, David, and Jacob. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family would like to thank Rocmaura Nursing Home, Garden Court, for all the wonderful care and kindness shown to Sadie.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be no visitation and a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Livestream of Sadie’s service can be viewed starting on Tuesday, January 19, 2020, at 11 AM on the Brenan’s Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sadie’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Rocmaura Nursing Home Foundation.
