Obituary of Ruth Phyllis Zwicker
ZWICKER (Patterson) , Ruth Phyllis – age 92, formerly of Bedford, Musquodoboit, Londonderry and Truro, passed away peacefully at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Born in Falmouth, the daughter of Lewis and Cora (Porter) Patterson, she worked as a hair dresser in Halifax and Windsor prior to her marriage to Marlin Zwicker. Following her marriage, Ruth devoted herself full time to supporting her husband and raising their three daughters. She is a past member of Truro Kinette Club and Truro Curling Club and was a member of the United Church.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Karen Zwicker, Nine Mile River; Kathy (Bruce) Curry, Lower Onslow; Marlene Calder, Bedford; grandchildren, Mark Bonnell, Halifax; Sarah (Shawn) Gayton, Nine Mile River; Martha (Vince) Ziffle, Regina, Saskatchewan; great grandchildren, Lisa and Shane Gayton, both of Nine Mile River.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, of 74 years, Marlin Zwicker; sisters, Lenora Withrow, Kathleen Boyd, Dorothy Pemberton, and Grace Patterson; a brother in infancy and her grandson, Adam Curry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger Funeral Home; condolences to the family can be made at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com. A private burial will take place at a later date. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Arborstone Enhanced Care for the exceptional care and home away from home that they gave to Ruth over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Hope for Wildlife.
