In loving memory of Rosina DiPietro (Proulx). Surrounded by the loving care of her family, Rosie passed away peacefully at Pioneer Manor at the age of 90.
Rosie was survived by her only daughter Karen who made up her entire world. She touched the lives of many she new with her feisty spirit, sense of humour, cooking and genuine abundance of love that she so freely gave out. From her baseball days out in centerfield catching a ball barehanded to her days working in produce at Loblaws and the many customers and Sudbury Wolves players she served at Tony’s Lunch on Elgin Street, she definitely left her mark on so many hearts. Her entire life’s journey, strong work ethic and all she gave up to raise her daughter came across in everything she did. She loved people, animals, her family time, bingo, peanuts and making people laugh. Seeing things through Rosie’s eyes was a joy, “ I am psychic” or “the fly on the wall” she would go to great lengths to protect those she loved.
Rosie’s pride & joy was her grandson Ashton whom she showered with love since the day he was born – a proud Noni bond the two will have forever. She welcomed and loved her son-in-love Darren and his two beautiful daughters Emma & Alexis and was blessed to have such an amazing extended family who loved her just as much. Thank you Darren for keeping that promise to her.
Predeceased by her parents Pietro & Augustina DiPietro (Porcelli). Rosie was deeply loved and will be missed by her baby brother Frank DiPietro (Cathy), nephew Peter and nieces Lisa & Paula. Predeceased by her big brother Dominic DiPietro. Loved always by her sister in law Louise Tessier (DiPietro) and her nephews Dean, Kevin and nieces Tina & Lucie. Her visits & love will be missed by her furgrandbabies Jewel, Dotty & Fender.
Rosie lived her life the way she wanted to live, never expecting or wanting anything in return but love & friendships. Her active, strong independent nature carried her through life and she was always known for helping others before herself. She was happiest surrounded by her family, friends, good food and a big pot of coffee. She was a breath of fresh air & a blessing to many people who’s lives she touched.
A sincere heartfelt thank you to those few remarkable nurses, PSW’s & staff at Pioneer Manor (you know who you are) who appreciated & respected her & her families advocacy & help. Your exceptional care, kindness, support and the time taken to get to know her will forever be appreciated – we need more people like you caring for our loved ones in long term care.
A celebration of Rosie’s life will be held at a later date. For now, keep her memories close, and all her stories & what she taught you alive until we see her again.
