Rosemary Gertrude (Sissy) Holohan, RN, passed away peacefully at her residence, Chaplin Island Road, Miramichi, on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, in her 94th year. Born in Newcastle, NB, Rosemary was the youngest daughter of the late William James and Mary Katherine (Bayle) Holohan. Rosemary graduated from St. Martha’s Hospital School of Nursing, Antigonish, following which she worked at QE11 Hospital, Halifax for two years, before moving to Boston, MA, where she nursed for more than 35 years at Massachusetts General Hospital. She retired to the family homestead on Chaplin Island Road, where she enjoyed caring for her beloved dog and various cats.
Rosemary is survived by her niece, Bayle Gorman, as well as by several cousins. The last surviving member of her family, in addition to her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by her siblings, Katherine, Mary, Patricia (late Arthur) Gorman, Tom, George (late Marian), Beatrice, Noreen, Michael and Joan.
At Rosemary’s request, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Miramichi, on Wednesday, Aug. 25th at 2:00 PM with Father John Keoughan presiding. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family sincerely thanks Sissy’s wonderful caregivers, without whom she would not have been able to remain in her beloved home as she wished. We also want to express our deepest gratitude to the Extra Mural nurses who cared for Sissy during the past month.
