Ronald (Ron) passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021 with family and many friends vigilantly at his side. Ron was born in Saskatoon on August 15th, 1936 and was blessed to be welcomed into a loving family of five sisters and four brothers. Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his nephews Tim (Lisa) Beechinor, Tom Beechinor, Mike Beechinor, Kevin (Stephanie) Beechinor, John Beechinor, and his niece Colleen Cartwright. Also left to mourn are numerous friends, Sean, his ever faithful canine companion, and a lifetime of acquaintances who were greatly influenced by his presence. Ron was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his five sisters Margaret, Mary, Lilian, Anne, and Eileen, and his four brothers Tom, Pat, Jack, and Bob. As well, Ron was predeceased, by his very close friend of over 50 years, Sister Cecile Fahl. Ron felt blessed to have had Cecile in his life; both greatly cherished the time they shared with each other.
On June 1, 1963, Ron was ordained to the priesthood. He was blessed to have served in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon for over 51 years. Throughout his ministry, Ron was privileged to have journeyed with many like-minded individuals who shared a similar vision, and, like Ron, possessed a fervent love for the Church. Ron was extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate countless baptisms, marriages, funerals, and other faith enhancing experiences. As well, for 50 years, Ron was associated with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools where he helped foster an environment that embraced the values of the Catholic Church, and provided spiritual guidance to all who worked within the school system. The opportunity to serve in both the Diocese of Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Catholic School System was truly an honor for Ron. He was humbled by all the people who accepted and supported him in his ministry.
Ron loved to travel, hike, go for walks with Sean, share meals, and dine out with friends and family. As he aged and many of these activities were no longer possible, he would spend countless hours sitting on his deck with Sean and smiling as the breeze caressed his face. If the weather did not cooperate, he would simply sit in his big red chair, which was situated in the living room, and observe the daily happenings through his window.
The family is indebted to the Royal University Hospital for their compassionate care during Ron’s final days. As well, the family would like to recognize the support and care which was provided to Ron at Trinity Manor. During his short stay, he was treated with dignity and respect- for this, the family is grateful.
