It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Marilyn Romick at age 78 on August 1st, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa (Emanuel), her son Vince, two grandchildren: Sydney and Vaiden, her sisters Joyce Hughes, Brenda Seerattan, her brothers John Stamp (Helen), Tom Stamp (Sonja), Rob Stamp (Tammy), and many friends. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Victor, sister Janet Carson, and her parents Janet and Tom Stamp.
Marilyn grew up in Crossfield, Alberta with six siblings (3 girls and 3 boys), whom she loved deeply. Throughout her life, Marilyn had a deep passion for figure skating. She went from training to competing, to ultimately instructing; having taught many throughout her career. In July of 1964, she married her late husband, Victor, later moving to Sherwood Park, Alberta where they settled and raised two children. Marilyn took great pride in working at the Bank of Nova Scotia for 20 years and then at London Drugs for 18 years. Marilyn loved to camp with her friends and family, entertain for others, and go out dancing. In her older years, she loved to scrapbook, spend time with her loved ones, have coffee dates with her friends, and lastly spend a lot of her time going on shopping sprees, which she passed onto to her granddaughter!
Marilyn was a tough woman and showed immense strength as she battled cancer for many years. This strength and endurance will always be remembered and inspire others. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, but we will treasure and look back on all the amazing memories we have with her.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at the Sherwood Park Log Cabin (50 Spruce Ave, Sherwood Park) on August 16th at 1 pm.
The family would like to extend our gratefulness to the doctors, nurses, and staff for their excellent compassion and care at the Rivercrest Care Centre in Fort Saskatchewan.
