Roger Gregory McDonald
March 16, 1940 – November 8, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roger Gregory McDonald at the age of 81, on November 8, 2021. He passed away peacefully at his home in East Lawrencetown.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald & Glenora (Thompson) and younger brother Gerald.
Roger is survived and will be greatly remembered by his loving wife Nancy (Spidell), his children Ryan (Leona & Brent), Derek, Colleen (Andrew); his Grandchildren and best friends that were his pride and joy, Dylan & Celia; his brothers and sisters Elaine (Don), Maureen (Don), Paul (Lynn); his wife’s brother Darryl (Cindy), sister Lorrie (Philip) and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Dartmouth, NS, he worked at a bank and later moved to Guildford’s Ltd. where he retired after a successful career in sales. He built his home with his wife Nancy in East Lawrencetown, where they raised their family for almost 45 years. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage in June.
Anyone who knew Roger, knew his love of sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. He could be found many days watching a sporting event on TV cheering on his favorite team.
He will also be remembered by friends that were like family (Ray, Sadie, Tom, Jean and Mike to name a few) and many other caring friends. He loved to travel to PEI every year to visit with friends Ray, Sadie & family and attend the Gold Cup & Saucer.
He will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, loving & supportive father and a true friend you could always count on.
A private family service will be held. Donations can be made in memory of Roger to the Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
