Byrne, Robert Kim – 65, Goose Lake, The Family of Robert K. Byrne is saddened to announce his passing on January 29, 2021 at home from heart complications. Bob was born in Halifax in November 1955 to the Late Leo Byrne and Marcella (Scanlan) Byrne; the first of 5 children. After graduating from Saint Mary’s University in 1980, Bob began his teaching career at Barrington Municipal High School; and where he would teach his entire career. During his time at BMHS he coached both hockey and basketball. He also played hockey with his co-workers as net minder and in later years became part of their coaching staff. His love of sports was well known by all who knew him. Bob was a member of the Goose Lake Cottage Association . He loved his home on Goose Lake Road and could always be found with his dog, a bonfire and a drink for whomever wanted to stop by for a visit. If not at home, he was usually in the company of his most trusted and loyal friend, Blaine Hirtle. Along with his friends that will miss him, Bob is survived by his Mother, Marcella; brothers, Philip (Carol) Ottawa & Tony (Sheila); and sisters, Wanda and Cathy (Jeff); nieces, Natalie, Erin & Sophie; and nephew Jake; all of Sackville, NS. Bob was predeceased by his Father, Leo Byrne; and brother –in-law, Randy MacKay. Arrangements have been entrusted to H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Barrington. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, Yarmouth or charity of choice.
