Bob was the husband and best friend of Evelyn for over 40 years; the beyond proud father of Brooke, RJ (IV) & Kristen and loving papa to Robbie (V) and DeeDee. He was the adored son-in-law of Alida (Atie) Hamstra. Bob’s greatest concern was that Nana was cared for…they loved each other dearly. Bob was the beloved brother to Louise Morrison of Florida; Sally & Tim Timmerman of Virginia and Martha & Tye Joyce of Brantford. He was Uncle and Great Uncle Bobby to: Sarah & Dave, Curtis, Jack & Emma Detomasi; Charlotte & John, Max, Charlie & Sam Marshall; Jane & Greg, Sally & Rachel Steinberg; Charles Joyce; Jamie & Adriana, Laney, Vanessa & Fletcher Joyce, all in Canada (Oh, what fun we had!) And too little time with nieces and nephews in the States: Alex & Kim Morrison; Chris Morrison; Martha & Bobby Speight; Fletcher & Mark Bowden; Price & Leah Timmerman; Jess & Sarah Timmerman and all of their children. He was a treasured cousin to: Archie & Rae Biggs; the late Fletcher & Lisa Biggs; Caroline & the late Ian Mundie; Charlotte Poelman & Wayne and their families. Also loved by Tante (Aunt) Willy Iking. And, Skibo, to his many lifelong friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Doris Fletcher and his father-in-law John Hamstra. Bob was the owner of Fletcher Construction. He was thrilled when RJ joined him. Bob had a skill for building beautiful custom cabinetry. Robbie, at 4 years old is already handy with a drill – so not only the name but the trade continues! The family is extremely thankful to the health care professionals over the last 4 years that gave Bob the gift of time during which he was able to experience the joy of being a grandparent. He so loved Robbie’s sense of humour and curious mind and DeeDee’s passion for drawing on the chalkboard with Papa. The expertise of doctors and health teams and the kind, compassionate care of the nurses at Hamilton General Hospital CCU over the last 3 weeks was exceptional. We are forever grateful. Bob enjoyed nothing more than a backyard full of family and friends, with golf – his passion – on the tv. (Well, actually being on the course was better!) And so, a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 2nd from 11 until 5, in Bob & Ev’s backyard. Family and friends are invited to drop in and share memories and raise a glass to a wonderful soul who is already so missed. And although, in the end, his heart failed him, let yours soar in the spirit of family, friendship and kindness to all. Bob would like that. Arrangements have been entrusted to Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, Ontario. Messages of condolence may be left at www.tollfh.ca
