Osborne, Robert (Bob) Alfred
With our deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Alfred Osborne. In his 91st year, he died peacefully at home with his wife of 58 years, Ferne Osborne by his side.
He was a loving and supportive father to Scott (Nicola) Osborne and Jan (Ken) Janisse, and took every chance at spoiling his grandkids, Peter and Erin Osborne whenever he could.
He is survived by his sister Phoebe Young and brother Bill (Joan) Osborne and predeceased by his siblings Rosie, Lloyd, Ed and Mildred. Also brother-in-law of Barbara and (late) Roy Leighton.
Bob was a dedicated Senior Corporal for the OPP with 32 years of service in North Bay, Temagami and Dufferin. He was also a proud Charter member of the Shelburne & District Lions Club for well over 50 years, with being a two-time Past District Governor during that period.
Born in Commanda, Ontario and raised in Golden Valley, he eventually made his way south and settled in Shelburne, where he raised his family, whom he treasured….cats included! His generous nature shined when he made sure to take each member of the family out for their special birthday dinner every year, at a restaurant of their choice – he loved eating out! Bob enjoyed traveling, whether it be for the Lions Club around the world or just on road trips to the grocery store. His humor and quick wit, made him very easy to talk to, whatever the situation. Bob will be missed by many.
A special “Thank you” to the Dufferin County Paramedic Services, Care Partners and Bridging the Gap for all their help through this difficult journey.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Lions Foundation of Canada – Dog Guides. Funeral arrangements are left in the care of Jack & Thompson Funeral Home in Shelburne. Due to COVID, we regret that there will be no service.
