Robert (Bob) Boyd (February 27, 1931 – December 11, 2021) of Milton, previously of Burlington and Belfast, Northern Ireland, passed away at Milton District Hospital. Bob was able to live life on his own terms for more than 90 years. It was only in the past few weeks that his health deteriorated.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Sarah (2018). He was the loving father of Liz and her husband, Bernie. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, David and Anne and their sons Finnegan and Hudson, and Hilary and Jeremy and their sons Grady and Rhett. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Betty. He will be missed by nieces and nephews Paul Rice, Linda Thompson, Margaret Cummings, Joe Cummings, and their families. Extended family, in Canada and Northern Ireland, mourn his passing.
Bob was a Mechanical Engineer. He retired from AECL and had previously worked for Proctor & Gamble and De Havilland. He was an enthusiastic sailor and had never seen a book he did not want to read. His kindness and generosity to family, friends and often to complete strangers was legendary. After retirement, he used his skills to complete various projects for the March of Dimes.
At Bob’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will be welcomed to a gathering to commit his ashes, in summer of 2022.
The family thanks the doctors and nurses, of Milton District Hospital, for their compassionate care. Heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of 2 South, 3 South and particularly to the Complex Transitional Care and Palliative Care staff for their many kindnesses and caring professionalism over the past weeks.
In remembering Bob, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you do a kindness for another person and take care of the people around you as he would have.
