Obituary
Robbie Brass, originally from the community of Sapotoweyak, passed away at the age of 33 on April 23rd, 2021. Robbie was born on September 13th, 1987 to Barbara Brass and Robert Chartrand.
Robbie’s mother Barbara Brass passed away December 16th, 2007. Robbie came from a family of 8. Her siblings are: Waylon Brass, Ryan Brass, the late Chermaine Brass, Robin Brass, Mona Brass, J.R. Brass and Raven Brass. Robbie knew all of her siblings and loved all of them.
Robbie suffered some losses in her life with the passing of her sister Chermaine on May 1st, 2018 and her mother. She was a single woman who lived in Winnipeg. She didn’t have any children but was an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She kept busy with a few hobbies and interests. Robbie was a creative woman who spent time drawing and she loved to write and journal. She had many friends and was a wonderful sister to have. She frequently visited her sister Robin in St. Rose. Those times will remain forever in Robin’s memory. They laughed so much because Robbie had a great sense of humour and always had a story to tell and a joke to share.
Robin –“Our visits were always wonderful. We have always been close. When we were children we were always together and even as a child Robbie was kind and always laughed easily. She always did her best to be supportive and she worked on being a good sister and a good friend. Despite difficult times in her childhood and difficult times in teenage and adult years, I believe my sister was strong. She got through those times and was still ready to laugh and support others.”
Robbie lived in several foster homes as a child. Despite being in that situation she remained a grateful and happy person. Robbie did not spend time dwelling on difficult times. As a teenager she moved to Winnipeg and she loved the city. Robbie had stable housing at Turning Leaf. She lived at and utilized services with Turning Leaf Group Home for many years.
Robbie enjoyed watching movies. Her favourite movie was Coal Miner’s Daughter. She liked to watch that movie and never got tired of it. Watching it will remind us of her. She also liked to listen to music and her favourite was rap music.
Robbie leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: her father Robert Chartrand; her brothers Waylon, Ryan and J.R.; her sisters Robin, Mona and Raven; 15 nieces and nephews as well as numerous relatives and friends that she was close to.
We thank our auntie Lorraine for making arrangements and Paull Funeral Home for the services they provided.
