MORGAN, Rev. Dennis passed after a short battle with esophageal cancer on Nov. 15, 2021 in Vancouver at the age of 80. He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathy, children Jenny (Jonathan), Paul (Christine), Angie and Katie, grandchildren Heather, Erik, Justin, Katrina and Thomas, his brother Bill, extended family, friends and parishioners.
Born in Vancouver in 1941, Reverend Morgan (‘Rev Den’ to close friends), graduated from UBC Theology. His first church was St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Gibsons, BC; he then moved to help revive the St. Mary’s parish in south Vancouver. During a long career, he cultivated faith, helped many to deal with challenges and led countless religious ceremonies and celebrations for both congregants and laypersons. He was also the priest for Holy Family Hospital.
Dennis and Kathy opened their home to over 150 infant-to-toddler foster children over 20+ years. He was a regular at the Royal Canadian Legion, where he was the padre for Remembrance Day ceremonies, and also loved to dance and share stories. He was a skilled scuba diver, fisherman and kayaker – and enjoyed sharing the wonders of our beautiful west coast – especially from the family property on Bowen Island.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and St. Mary’s church members ONLY on Sat. Dec. 11, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s South Hill Church, 808 East 50th Ave., Vancouver, BC – Rev. E. Farinas officiating. Due to capacity limitations, a live stream video of the service will also be offered here: Memorial Service Livestream.
A Celebration of Life in a larger venue for all friends and family with follow on Sun. Jan. 23, 2021 – time TBD – please check back for details here, later in December/January.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the BC Cancer Foundation (BC Cancer Foundation Donations).
