Death Notice
CARNEGIE (POSTIAN), Rebecca – Suddenly with her family by her side at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in her 78th year. Lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, John, children Justin (Andrea) and Allison (Phil), and grandchildren Rieley, Taylor and Nicholas. Daughter of the late Paul Postian Sr. and Narcisse Postian, founders of Postian Rugs, a London staple at the corner of Dundas and Colborne. Dear sister of Ron Postian and the late Paul Postian.
Rebecca started her career as a Grade 3 teacher, teaching at Brick Street and Orchard Park and still refers to her brilliant Grade 3 class adoringly. Rebecca was spotted in a crowd and approached to go into television where she hosted a weekly talk show « Friday at 3”. She would interview visiting celebrities on the show, which led to an affiliation with CBC Television where she was a rep with the Status of Women for 30 years. After the birth of her son Justin, she entered Real Estate in 1975 and through the years she became a Broker, Appraiser and F.R.I. Designate of Carnegie Real Estate. She loved Real Estate and worked til the end of her life. In her spare time, she served on the Board of Directors of Orchestra London, YMCA, helped organize the Home and Garden Show, and was proud of her service with the Status of Women.
A beautiful, classy, elegant lady, always dressed to the nines, wearing her signature gold-rimmed glasses, she was a presence in all of our lives. When she walked into a room, she always caught attention for her persona and warm smile. She was fiercely proud of her family, the family businesses, and especially her children and grandchildren. Rebecca lived an inspiring life, filled with a drive and determination that she passed along to all she knew. Her loss is immeasurable.
Private family service at Harris Funeral Home followed by interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
