Obituary for Randy Soney
Randall Roy ‘Randy’ Soney, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully at C-K Hospice on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the age of 73. Randy was the son of the late Elmer & Edris (Kewayosh) Soney. Father of Nathan, Chad, Randy Jr and the late Robin and grandfather of Renton, Kaine, Krystal, Rob, Hayden, Talon and Jonas and great grandfather of Mshkomin, Dylan, Haley and Tyrese. Brother of Lois Jacobs, Donna Stonefish (Ken), Doreen ‘Dee’ Soney Sands and the late Jean and Lila Soney. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins and his former wife Jacklyn. Randy served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years with the 3rd Battalion, 5 Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, landing in Vietnam in 1968 and was wounded in Operation Hastings. After returning home, Randy served as the Walpole Island First Nation Chief of Police for 30 years. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Sunday from 1 – 5 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, reservations are required and may be made by clicking here > signup.com/go/ixFbHnu < or by calling the funeral home. Masks and social distancing are mandatory. A drive-in funeral will be held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex at 2 PM on Monday, May 17 with drive-by viewing from noon-2 PM on Monday. Due to Covid restrictions, attendees at the drive-in funeral will not be allowed to exit their vehicles. Burial to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
