Quentin’s Obituary
The family of the late Quentin Weinbender, beloved husband of Dorothy Weinbender of Canora, SK, announce his passing at the Canora Hospital on September 22, 2021, at the age of 75 years.
Quentin was born on July 6, 1946, to Alexander and Pauline (Weber) Weinbender at the Canora Hospital, Canora, SK. He attended school in Canora, SK, and achieved his grade eight education.
On August 20, 1965, Quentin was united in marriage to Dorothy Markham in Rhein, SK. They were blessed with two children, Carey and Jocelyne. The family resided on a farm in the Burgis District, SK. In 2001, Quentin and Dorothy moved into Canora, SK, where they continued to reside until Quentin’s passing.
Throughout his adult years, Quentin worked as a farmer, music teacher, and most recently, as a manager of a very successful local business, Canora Weaving and Manufacturing, where Quentin dedicated his time tirelessly right until his final days.
In his spare time, Quentin enjoyed being with family and playing bass guitar with the band, Back Home Country. He especially enjoyed old time music. He appreciated time spent fishing and camping with family. He could sit for hours on the lake, fishing or just enjoying the water. He also took great pride in helping Milton on the farm and would overcome many challenges to be able to be there to lend a helping hand. Above all, he loved to spend time with his wife, Dorothy, his family, and his many friends. He was always up for a good conversation and a visit. One of his favourite vacations involved travelling to B.C. with Dorothy and all her sibling and spouses. He also had the opportunity to travel to North Carolina for work. More than anything, he loved teaching his grandchildren many things and spending quality time with them, whether it be talking, cuddling, building Lego, or sitting by the fire.
Known for his black leather vest, for notoriously having a toothpick in his mouth, and for the amount of misplaced coffee mugs at work, Quentin will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and his work ethic in running his business. A valued community member, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Quentin was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Pauline Weinbender.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Carey (Lee Ann); daughter, Jocelyne; his grandchildren: Sarah (James), Laura, Dale, Amber, and Chance; great-grandchild, Troy; sister, Amanda (Lyle) Harper; and all Dorothy’s siblings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
In Quentin’s honour, a Service of Remembrance was celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2021, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Pastor Barry Wood officiating. Interment of Cremated Remains followed at the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK.
