Prudence’s Obituary
Blades, Prudence Elizabeth – With extremely heavy hearts we announce that Prue went to her “forever home” on Wednesday, March 3rd at home surrounded by family and friends. An extremely hard worker, Prue spent decades working in the local restaurant industry, most recently at Capt. Kat’s where she again found an extended family of amazing friends. For 10+years prior to that she worked in aquaculture at Scotian Halibut, learning and then teaching all aspects of raising halibut. Prue enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to travel to Boston to see family, watch the Red Sox and go Black Friday shopping; or to Florida for the sunshine and good times with good friends. She enjoyed line dancing, singing, laughing, reading, crafting, community theatre, church, yard sales and going to the beach. Please spread kindness in her memory. Prue was born on April 10, 1947 in Clark’s Harbour. She was the only adopted child of the late Dr. J.R. & Annis Corbett. She spent her entire adult life in the Clark’s Harbour area where she was known and loved by many. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Lovitte Blades. Together they raised three loving sons: Troy (Amber), Hammonds Plains NS; Bobby, Stoney Island NS; and Brandon, Porter’s Lake NS. Grammie’s Girls: Sherisse (Argyle) and Sophie and Cassidy (Hammonds Plains) will remember her as the kindest woman you will ever meet, always greeting people with a huge smile and a hug. Prue is also survived by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Priscilla (Irvin) Landry, Centreville NS; Phillip (Brenda) Smith, Edmonton AB; Cheryl Smith, Barrington NS; and Lee Goreham-Smith, Woods Harbour NS. Siblings from the Bridgewater area: Terry Robar, Brenda Laird, Greg Robar, Reta (Cecil) Atkinson, Joyce (Mike) Hebb, Cheryl Mysko, Wendy (Tom) Leneten, John (Karen) Robar, and Randy (Jenn) Robar. Predeceased by her birthmother Frances A Kenney. Last, but not least, Prue leaves behind her devoted friends – Your love and support has helped Prue and Lovitte tremendously over the last two months. The family would like to thank: the continuing care workers and the VON for taking such good care of her at home, all the friends and community members who brought food and love, and the local churches for their thoughts and prayers. Public visitation will be held Saturday, March 6 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the H.M. Hukilsons Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral service will held on Sunday, March 7 at 2pm, at the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Due to Covid-19 restriction, seating may be limited and social distancing guidelines must be followed (Immediate family will be given priority for seating).
