Obituary of Pietro Santo Perri
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Pietro announces his peaceful passing at the age of 87 on January 8, 2021 at the Sault Area Hospital. Beloved husband of Maria Franca Perri. Loving father of Patti Stefanizzi (Gabe) and Dan Perri (Tara). Adored Nonno of Brianna and Sierra Stefanizzi, and Madeline and Luca Perri. Predeceased by his daughter, Anna-Maria Perri. Dear brother of the late Letizia (late Bifano) Cistaro and Elena (Frank) Longo. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in San Demetrio Corone, Italy, he immigrated to Canada at a young age and taught his family the value of hard work through his trade of bricklaying. After many years of working at Algoma Steel, he retired to his second career of gardening, which he thoroughly loved. He spent endless hours nurturing his vegetable and fruit plants, which he shared with all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family teaching us the typical Italian traditions and customs and took pride in sharing the fruits of his labour such as his homemade wine, salami and sausage. Everyone who knew him will miss the many stories he loved to share about the old country and his past. Dad you taught us patience, commitment, and hard work but most of all love – we will miss you! A special thank you to all who cared for Pietro over the past several months, in particular the Bayshore Nurses, Brenda Paat and the wonderful nurses in the Medical Follow Up Clinic, Dr. Bowen, Dr. Berry, Dr. Fera and all the caring and compassionate staff on 3C at the Sault Area Hospital. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
