Obituary of Philip A. Clarke
Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at Callingwood Downs Retirement Complex, Clarke’s Beach on Thursday, March 18, 2021, Philip A. Clarke of Victoria, age 87 years.
Predeceased by parents: Frederick and Clara; sisters: Mae, Hilda, and Ada; brothers: James, Wallace, Bill, Ernest, Nath, Albert, and their spouses.
Leaving to mourn, wife: Viola; two daughters: Victoria Chaytor, Carbonear and Carolyn (Brian) Winsor, Grand Falls-Windsor; four sons: Gene (Donna), Ancaster, ON, Stephen (Beverley), Lewisporte, Vance (Jeanne), Paradise, and Jim (Michelle), Topsail; fourteen grandchildren: Mitchell (Bev), Marshall (Chrissy), Jeffrey (Sarah), Bradley (Carly), Daniel (Rachel), Vance (Maria), Vaughn (Eva), André (Kristen), Victoria Lynn (Tommy), Dannielle (Jason), Philip (Kerra), Peter (Robyn), Katie (Dave), and Emily; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Albert (Frances) Cole, Salmon Cove; sister-in-law: Bessie (George, deceased) Cole, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
Dad was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was greatly loved by his family and loved spending time with all of them. He was a model of strength and conviction, and a wonderful provider. Dad (pop), we love you and will miss you.
Due to pandemic restrictions, there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will take place on Sunday, March 21 at Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear, followed by interment in Calvary Pentecostal Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at heartandstroke.ca.
