Peter Graye
1936-2021
MIRAMICHI, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the
peaceful passing of Peter Graye, 85 years old, a dear friend, father
and grandfather, on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Parkland, Miramichi,
NB. Peter’s last place of residence before recently moving
to Parkland Retirement Living was Richibucto, NB.
Peter was born on a small farm near Plaster Rock, NB. His
parents were the late Eldon and Alice (Chevarie) Graye. Peter began
his career as a meat cutter in Florenceville, NB, moving on to become
the manager of the meat department. In 1964 he was hired as a meat
inspector trainee for Agriculture Canada. After 10 years he
was promoted to Regional Supervisor for meat products, a position he
held for over 22 years, retiring in 1996. During his career
Peter travelled extensively throughout the Atlantic region, with
postings in Lunenburg, NS, Sydney, NS, Fredericton, NB and finally
Moncton, NB. He also spent short periods of time in Ottawa, Toronto
and Uruguay, South America for CFIA.
Peter and his first wife Marilyn Albert had one son, Matthew
Graye, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. After the death
of his second wife Jean (Dunnett) Graye, he moved to Richibucto, NB
where he enjoyed curling and gardening. He loved travelling, meeting
new people and seeing new places.
He is survived by special friends Stan & Jeannita
Stewart of Richibucto, NB and Irene Briand of Beresford, NB, his
daughter-in-law Debbie Graye of St. Pierre-Jolys, MB, step-children
Cynthia (Paul) Barbosa, Andrew Dunnett, and Jeanie (Laurie) Saulnier,
grandchildren Glendon (Ashley) Graye, Colin Graye, Lindsay (Jamie)
Morris, Katelyn Graye, step-grandchildren Nicholas Saulnier, Jonathan
Saulnier and Christine Dunnett, his first wife Marilyn Albert of
Lunenburg, NS, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Peter was pre-deceased by his only son,
Matthew Graye, his sisters Caroline Spencer and Kathleen Laforest, his
brother Charles Graye, his infant brother Gordon. his second wife Jean
(Dunnett) Graye, and his step-children Ross Dunnett and Kimberly
Dunnett.
Family and friends will gather at the Victory Baptist Church,
Rexton, NB for a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2:00
pm. A light lunch will follow. Donations may be made to a
charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences

Interment will take place at a later date in Arthurette,
NB.
