Peter was taken from us suddenly on October 8, 2021 at Vancouver General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Florence and James, his father-in-law Otto Klein, his brothers-in-law Helmut Klein, Arthur Abt and Harry Jacobse. Peter was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife of 41 years, Traudy Klein. They met at Lions Gate Hospital and fell in love. Peter will also be missed by his two sisters Pam, brother-in-law Steve and Susan Jacobse, his mother-in-law Karoline Klein, now 100 years young, whom he affectionately called “the Queen”, his in-laws Hildegard Abt, Hank and Marion Klein, Linda Klein, Erika and Ranald Krolman, Eric and Sue Klein, Alfred and Brenda Klein, Monika Klein and Dennis Combs. Peter leaves many nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished.
Peter was born at Vancouver General Hospital and grew up on the North Shore. He attended West Vancouver Secondary School where he was active in the drama dept. Asked to participate in “Reach for the Top”, he declined due to shyness. While growing up, he worked for his father at Bowie Dental Lab and later at various Mini Marts run by his father. He excelled in school and went onto Simon Fraser University where he set up the university’s bookstore in 1965. He majored in Political Science and English, after that he went to the University of British Columbia. Prior to his retirement, Peter worked for BCA Industrial Controls in Surrey, where he was in management. Once retired he enrolled in trading to become a Travel Agent.
Peter’s interests were varied, from enjoying novels, poetry, politics, research, concerts and movies to playing tennis at the Hollyburn Tennis Club where he held a high amateur ranking. We had planned on watching the World Series later this month, this was on Peter’s radar. He loved fashion, walks, hikes and travelling to Hawaii and Mexico. Most of all music was his passion from Billie Holiday to Billie Eilish—all types of music categories, his memory of music was extensive.
Peter was a kind, gentle-natured, humorous, intelligent, sensitive and had a love for life. Peter is watching over us from above. Peter will be missed but always remembered for his kindness, advise, an open mind and respect for his family.
Many thanks for the support given to Peter and Traudy from his Doctors, Nurses, and Caregivers at St. Paul’s Hospital kidney clinic over the past 20 years and to VGH Banfield Pavilion for their kindness. Thanks to friends for giving comforting words of condolences. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Peter Graham Bowie Dec. 161946 Oct. 82021..
