Percy Garnet Mott
1934-2021
Percy Garnet Mott
passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Victoria Hospital, London,
at the age of 87. He was born June 15, 1934, in Belyeas Cove, New
Brunswick.
He was predeceased by
his parents, Garnet and Minnie Mott, sister Rowena Mott, and his
brothers, Gerald, Earl, and Russell Mott. He is survived by his sister
Judy Urquhart (Bud), his daughter Noreen Spruyt (Richard), and son
Jason Mott, his grandchildren Jacob (Kaylyn Reid), Tyler and Mark
Spruyt, his sisters-in-law Betty, Frances and Irene, along
with many nieces and nephews.
Dad loved to drive and
his first jobs were driving dump truck in New Brunswick and in
Toronto, Ontario, where he moved in the late 50’s. He worked
for Goodyear then with Ford Motor Company in Oakville. Dad worked on
the line then loaded vehicles onto railcars for 10 years prior to
retirement. He retired after 36 years in 1998. His brother Gerald and
he built a cottage in Belyeas Cove in 1980 where he spent time in the
summers visiting family and friends. He loved fixing things and was
known to bake!
He moved to London in
2000 from Mississauga. In London, Dad purchased his first house at the
age of 66 where he lived up until his death. Dad loved going to his
grandson’s hockey and baseball games. He enjoyed his home,
the opportunity to garden, and to know and help the neighbours on his
street. The help was reciprocated on Monday, August 23 when they came
to his aid after he fell on his front step. Thanks to Brittany and
Carol, Dad got the help he needed. Funeral Service will be
held Saturday, September 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Village Green Community
Church. All protocols will be followed. As attendance is limited,
please RSVP for the service by emailing
