Paul Dewtie
1963-2021
It is with heavy hearts the family of William
« Paul » Dewtie of Thorburn announce his sudden
passing at home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Born in New Glasgow on
December 23, 1963 to William « Bill » and Marie
(Farrell) Dewtie, Paul was a loyal son, brother, uncle and
friend.
In his younger years, he was an avid hockey player which he
later transitioned to manager and trainer positions within the
Thorburn District Minor Hockey Association. He was a member of the Old
Scotian Scottish Heavy Events Association and was regular participant
at local strong man competitions. Paul enjoyed his almost daily
workouts and socialization at the local gyms.
To have known Paul was to know the famous
« million-dollar jeep », a pet project of
Paul’s for years. Fully assembled for a short period of time
with few to have witnessed in person and only one claim to have driven
it. To this day its location is unknown, but we know Paul will be
taking it for a spin on the highway in the sky.
He was a dedicated employee of local Sobeys stores in Pictou
County, working for nearly 40 years, most recently at the Sobeys
Pictou location. Paul enjoyed his daily interactions with co-workers,
customers and vendors alike.
He is survived by his father, Bill Dewtie, Thorburn, NS; his
sister, Jean (Philip) Cameron, New Glasgow, NS; brothers: Kevin (Jan)
Dewtie, New Glasgow, NS; Glen (Lesley) Dewtie, Weyburn, SK;
Christopher (Jamie) Dewtie, Midale, SK; along with nephews and nieces
Stephen, Glen, Corey, Blair, Courtney, Avery and Dyllan. He was
predeceased by his mother Marie and brother Mark.
