Obituary of Patricia Ann Eastman
Eastman, Patricia Ann (Brown) – Peacefully, with her children by her side, Patricia Eastman passed away on Monday, February 22nd, 2021, at Bluewater Health at the age of 81. Beloved wife and best friend of Wilfred Eastman (pre-deceased in 2009). Loving mother of Catherine (Scott) Jacklin and David (Jen) Burrows. Step-mother to Arlene (Ray) Gilmore, Brenda (Jamie) Guthrie (pre-deceased in 2011) and Michael (Felesha) Eastman. Cherished grandmother of Megan Jacklin, Cassandra Jacklin, Jason Burrows, Julie Burrows and step-grandmother to Ryan Eastman, Tyler Eastman, Franklin Gilmore, Stephanie Gilmore, Jordan Guthrie, Devin Guthrie, Katie Guthrie, Waylon Eastman and Wyatt Eastman as well as several great-step grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her guardians Enid and Hanley Johnson and sister Betty Claeys.
Patricia started her career as a one room school teacher in Wallaceburg. She successfully managed the family-owned Sunoco and Bluewater Pools in Sarnia for over 20 years. Integrity and excellent service were a priority in the business. Patricia found her position as a Teacher Resource Administrator for the Lambton Kent School Board very satisfying as she had the opportunity to share her educational and creative skills to support other teachers with their educational needs.
Her favorite roles were being a nurturing mother, doting grandmother, loving farmers wife and loyal friend. Music was always a big part of Patricia’s life. “Let’s Sing” she would say. As a Royal Conservatory of Music recognized singer, she shared her talents as a member of the Melodyaires, sang in her church choirs, and loved it when others would sing along with her, just because. She loved to play the piano and organ and giving lessons to her Grandchildren made her smile.
As a talented story teller and writer she shared her life experiences, verbally and through her creative fictional stories. Her sense of humour would make people smile, and if she could turn a frown upside down it brought her joy. She never took the simple things in life for granted, like time in her garden and playing fetch with her dog Blue. In her later years, Patricia liked to play board games and was always ready to beat you at a game of Crib. Watching movies was a favorite pastime and the Walton’s and Little House on the Prairie were her favorites.
She loved to travel when she could and places like EXPO 67, Disneyworld, her Train trip to BC and Branson, Missouri were memorable experiences that she spoke fondly of. Her favorite adventures were her day trips, theatre, dinners, and dancing with her beloved Wilf.
Patricia loved to entertain, and personalized detail was always her specialty. From tea parties, picnics, and wagon rides to birthday parties and holiday get togethers she made everyone feel welcomed, comfortable, and always fun!
The family would like to thank the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for the care they gave Patricia in her final years as well as Bluewater Health for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Mental Health Association,210 Lochiel St., Sarnia N7T 4C7 (cmha.ca).
